Japan Heritage: Trip around Four Former Naval Ports~ Many of the charms of these towns that drove forward the modernization of Japan are introduced through an online tour ~

ANA Akindo Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Seiichi Takahashi, headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) and ANA X Inc. (Representative Director and President: Shinichi Inoue, headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) have collaborated with the Promotion Council for the Utilization of Japan Heritage in Cities that Formerly Served as Naval Ports (Chair: Maizuru City Mayor Ryozo Tatami) to commence sales of “Japan Heritage: Trip around Four Former Naval Ports” from September 30 (Thursday) at 12:00.

The ANA Group and the Promotion Council for the Utilization of Japan Heritage in Cities that Formerly Served as Naval Ports decided to collaborate to implement this project with the objective of informing many people about the charm of Japan heritage by introducing the Japan heritage located throughout the four former naval ports of Yokosuka City, Kure City, Sasebo City and Maizuru City online because it is not possible to travel to them easily now.

Through this tour, the charm of the four former naval ports is introduced online together with local guides. Customers are guided around not only the facilities related to the former naval ports registered with Japan Heritage but also the charms of each of the towns, while also including local gourmet food. The tour is divided into a First Leg and a Second Leg.

In the First Leg the customers pay an online visit to Yokosuka, which was established as the first naval district [chinjufu] in 1884, and Maizuru, which was the last opened in 1901, and in the Second Leg they pay an online visit to Kure and Sasebo, the two ports opened at the same time in 1890. The customers travel around with a guide to the remains of the Chiyogasaki Battery and the Uraga Dock in Yokosuka, the Red Brick Park featuring rows of national important cultural properties, Shoeikan, a restaurant closely associated with the Navy, and other places in Maizuru, the Areikarasukojima Park where submarines can be seen from close up and the classic Yamato Museum in Kure, and the Hario Transmitting Station and remains of the Observatory Site at Marudeyama Battery, both national important cultural properties, in Sasebo.

Furthermore, a quiz on each of the towns and the facilities related to the former naval ports and a question-and-answer session utilizing Zoom’s Q&A function are also provided on the day, so the tour offers content which can be enjoyed by people in a wide range of age groups.

This time we have provided two plans: a viewing-only plan and a plan including a navy curry tasting set.
Regarding the kinds of navy curry, two kinds of curry from the town that is featured in the tour you apply for will be delivered to your house by the day before the tour.
Note that customers who participate in either plan will receive a present of memorabilia from the former naval port cities.

Going forward, ANA Group will continuously work to promote tourism by creating the relevant population utilizing the ANA domestic route network, and to further discover the charms of and revitalize the region. This is a magnificent opportunity to travel online over two legs around the four former naval ports located in various places from Kanto to Kyushu. Please stay tuned.
